Lynda M. King
March 25, 1966 - July 5, 2014
Lynda M. (MacKenzie) King, 48, passed peacefully in the arms of her husband, Christopher J. King and her sister, Michele (MacKenzie) McCoole, on July 5, 2014. Family and friends were also by her side.
Lynda was born on March 25, 1966 in Newburyport, MA the daughter of Donna (Roy) Marcotte and Douglas A. MacKenzie. She moved to Derry, NH in 1977 and graduated from Pinkerton Academy in 1984. She also attended Middlesex Community College.
Lynda always put her children, family and friends first. She loved being a mom most of all; making every moment a memory. Many of those memories included traveling to the National Parks with her family: the Grand Tetons, Denali, Yellowstone, Yosemite, and many more.
Lynda was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer 8 years ago. Her arduous journey “took flight” when she launched her own non-profit charity for metastatic cancer research and support. Lynda’s motto was “No one should ever be told that they cannot be cured”. Her 1st Annual Pink Tie Gala, held on May 10th at Promises to Keep in Derry, NH, was a huge success. Because of the generosity of those that donated and attended, two significant donations were made; the Healing Garden in Harvard, MA and to Prof. Michael King of Cornell University for his research grant.
Lynda is survived by her husband of 22 years, Christopher, her daughter, MacKenzie and her son, Spencer of Concord, MA; her mother, Donna Marcotte and husband, Roland of Derry, NH; her father, Douglas MacKenzie and wife, Cynthia of Charles Town, WV; her grandfather, John Barrett of Seabrook, NH; her brother, Robert MacKenzie and partner, Ronald Kopreski of Sandown, NH; her sister, Michele and husband, Kerry of Bedford, NH; her brother, Michael MacKenzie of Derry, NH; her sister-in-law, Nancy Fillmore and husband, Chris of Boxboro, MA; her brother-in-laws, Donald King and wife, Sheila of Westford, MA; Matthew King and wife, Barbara of Wrentham, MA; Andrew King and wife, Pamela of Danvers, MA; Timothy King and wife, Judi of Dedham, MA; her cousin, Kristine D’Angelo and husband, David of Newburyport, MA; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
